You're quoting the article that couldn't figure out whether Governor Bianco declared a state of emergency. In fact you linked another carrier of the article rather than the original Washington Post article as if you were hoping I wouldn't notice the MAJOR correction in the original source.

The evidence of FEMA's willful neglect is staggering.

Thousands upon thousands have died.

If you're so concerned about pork barrell spending, how about telling the FEMA director to go back to the horse races and hand over his paycheck to someone is qualified to handle a natural disaster.

It's time for you to stop smirking about President Clinton's sex life, stop deluding yourself, and start facing facts.

Re: Displaced New Orleans Community Demands Action, Accountability and Initiates A People’s Hurricane Fund

Considering the informaiton in White House shifts blame where:

"Behind the scenes, a power struggle emerged, as federal officials tried to wrest authority from Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, a Democrat. Shortly before midnight Friday, the Bush administration sent her a proposed legal memorandum asking her to request a federal takeover of the evacuation of New Orleans, a source within the state's emergency operations center said Saturday."

Could the President's remark on "unacceptable" be referring to Governor Blanco?

I've been searching for a direct quote (not an assumption by the media) of the President saying the federal response was unacceptable. I have yet to find it and am starting to wonder if he instead was referring to Governor Blanco actions/inactions.

This is a serious question not in the mode of "depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is". I'm willing to accept the characterization once I hear Bush attribute 'unacceptable' directly to the federal response. However, considering the information that's coming out about Governor Blanco's dereliction of duty it's a fair question.

Re: Displaced New Orleans Community Demands Action, Accountability and Initiates A People’s Hurricane Fund

How do I trackback this to my site?
